How the directory works

ADU Builders Sacramento is a research and comparison resource. It is not a licensing authority, a referral guarantee, or a substitute for contractor due diligence.

What a listing means

A listing indicates that the business was identified through public sources, direct submission, or editorial research as potentially serving Sacramento- or Placer County-area ADU projects. It does not mean the directory has inspected work, endorsed the business, or verified every fact on the page.

License information

When a listing is marked as license checked, the directory has reviewed a California contractor-license source as of the listing’s recorded research date. License status can change; homeowners should confirm current status, classification, bond, insurance, and project fit directly with the California State License Board before hiring.

Owner-claimed and enhanced profiles

Businesses may submit corrections or provide additional company information. Owner-claimed information is identified as such and does not replace independent license or rating research. Enhanced profiles may include owner-managed copy, project content, or measurement of contact actions.

Ratings and documented records

Ratings and review counts are displayed as source context, not as the directory’s own reviews. Project and permit documentation is source-specific: municipal records may identify ADU permits, while BuildZoom values are total projects. They should not be compared as a quality score.

Sponsored placement

Sponsored placement. Payment affects position in this sponsored section only. It does not affect license checks, ratings, or organic directory order.

Corrections and limitations

Coverage varies by jurisdiction and by the public records that identify a contractor name. A missing record does not establish that a company lacks experience. Businesses and homeowners can request a correction or flag an issue through the listing submission flow; corrections are reviewed before publication.

Project and permit-count limitation

Documented project and permit counts are directional proxies from mixed sources. They are not apples-to-apples and are not a quality ranking.

Before hiring

  • Verify current contractor license information with the California State License Board.
  • Request a written scope, schedule, insurance documentation, references, and a site-specific estimate.
  • Confirm which jurisdiction, utility, HOA, fire-safety, and site conditions apply to your property.
